To
empower our children (our future) with
the ability to communicate in a positive way, to have self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth and
pride within themselves.
To
empower parents with, understanding, skills and the
tools to change and modify unhealthy behaviours.
To
provide: support and understanding to those in a time of
need and crisis.
How
do I do that?
Initially,
I work with the mother and the child repairing, re-linking and
enhancing their attachment issues. This is done through interpretative
play, using direct and non-directive play, causing only minimal
distress to the child. When the child is ready then and only
then does the father become part of the process. At that point
we reconnect the father, through play and discussion, to both
mom and child. Continually, I offer behavioural changes in a
non-threatening, non-evasive environment and approach reconnecting
and re-linking
the thought process of the child and the parents. In order for
the child to grow and benefit from the program healing
will take place within the whole family and a collaborative effort
is needed and required.
This process works for children who have dealt with traumatic
illness. (ie. tramatic birth, chronic and severe ear infections, medical interventions
at an early age.) Loss or separation of family member, parent
and or pet; trauma to self or others; sibling jealousy; disorganization,
lack of focus and inability to stay on task, social situations,
ADD, ADHD and many other situations.
The success rate is 90%, however some do not benefit from treatment.
They are then linked to a psychologist and or psychiatrist depending
on the needs. I will attempt to resource them within the community.
In order for both child and family to grow, I resource with
other care-givers, other family members, schools and other professionals.
There continues to be communication and updating with those who
I feel would enhance the growth of the child and family in anyway
possible.
*Child
must come even if he/she is sick (Continuity is a must).
*Parents must be committed to the treatment or they will be cancelled.
*Therapy sessions and progress are all very individualized and
driven by the needs
of the child.
